Last day of the Spring term and an Easter service

Today is the last day of the Spring term and I am looking forward to the Easter holidays as much as the children. The thought of no school runs and a little less rigidity to our days is quite wonderful. Our lovely primary school had their Easter service at the local village church this morning. As we parked our car by the school, we were just in time to watch the crocodile line of children walk out of school and down the country lane to the pretty church. A reasonable number of parents were there to support the school and watch their children.

We had the littlest with us but as the last into the church, I was asked by the very efficient admin lady, if I would hold on to a bag of 3 helium balloons to give as a gift at the end of the service. Somehow the 3 year old was kept happy and quiet in church and I somehow did manage to unravel the ribbons attached to the balloons without any of them suddenly floating up between the pews. (Thank goodness for the CBeebies app!). And, most importantly, I managed to watch our Gerald Durrell do her ‘bit’ in the readings.

As the service ended, the balloons were given to the children to present without any problems and the children sang a sweet farewell song to the departing music teacher. Walking back with the pupils to school, I realised that this was the Boy’s final primary school Easter service. The Tribe seem to be growing up so quickly. However, it was a different and enjoyable end to term; just one more pick up before the hols. Hooray!
